Holistic Therapy in Care Homes

Holistic therapy is growing rapidly in popularity through the care home sector, owing to the health benefits which have been noted for those in their senior years and those living with a cognitive diagnosis.

I am a fully qualified and insured therapist and have been providing holistic care within this sector for a number of years now, over which time I have observed some wonderful responses to the treatments given.

There are a few treatments that I consider to be especially beneficial for those in their more senior years, however, packages can be tailored to fit the specific needs and numbers of the residents in your home. Below are a few of the treatments that I have noted are always particularly well received among my senior clientele.

Reiki Therapy is a Japanese energy healing modality and a profoundly relaxing experience for the recipient. The calming effects have been likened to that of meditation practice and the treatment carries no contra-indications, making it an appropriate treatment for everyone.

The benefits from Reiki are known to disperse stagnant or blocked energy in the auric field which assist with overall immune health and aids in the recovery and/or management of existing physical, mental or emotional ailments.

Indian Head Massage renews and balances the energy levels, assists to alleviate and prevent symptoms of headache and migraine and can help to relieve symptoms of low mood and depression. It can also bring a welcome relief to those who suffer with insomnia and fatigue and has been known to sometimes help boost memory capabilities.

Indian Hand & Arm Massage therapy is especially beneficial in our senior years and carries many health benefits, such as, increased blood circulation, reduced muscle pain and tension, reduced anxiety/low mood/depression, it heightens mental alertness (noticed particularly amongst residents who have a diagnosis with dementia), and promotes deep relaxation.

Office/Work Place Massage

Office based massage has been gathering momentum in recent years, and there has been much evidence to support why! It has been found that those who engage in massage therapy at work feel more relaxed, mentally focussed, invigorated and are ready to work to their optimum ability. A relaxed atmosphere at work makes for a more productive environment overall and boosts morale among staff.

I provide Indian Head, Neck and Shoulder Massage from your desk/seated work station. Massages are discreet and not designed to draw focus from work, but instead, encourage concentration, re-energise and allow for maximum achievement.

Other benefits of massage therapy at work include relief of muscular tension, improved blood circulation, raised energy levels, reduction in risk of common repetitive strain injuries (such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome) and reduced blood pressure.

Wellbeing Workshops & Classes

Are you a school or college looking to re-enforce the message of loving-kindness, and mindfulness?

Meditation and wellbeing workshops are beginning to find their well deserved place in mainstream education, which is very welcome news.

There is great importance in both recognising and understanding our many visiting thoughts and feelings, and knowing how to manage and process them.

I am a Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) coach and I have an extensive background in teaching a variety of ages, through expressive therapy methods and mindfulness practice. These practices all assist with bringing peace and clarity to the mind, body and spirit.

For adult learners, I am well versed to lecture on a broad range of topics surrounding sensory, cognitive, expressive and physical therapies, and can initiate discussions around practical spirituality.

Group Yoga & Meditation Classes

Alongside my popular yoga, movement and meditation classes, I am thrilled to now offer my deeply relaxing and healing, sound bath therapy sessions among my corporate services. These sessions have proved to be incredibly popular and often requested as a team building opportunity. Using some of the most beautiful, ancient instruments that resonate at the same frequency as the human body, a wonderfully healing environment is created where deep meditation practice can take place. Benefits include stress release, reduction in anxiety, greater focus and energy and provides a calming environment to support a general feeling of well-being and relaxation.
